MKI Training Centres

MKI Training centres (Health Education Centres, HECs) have been set up for professional healthcare providers: obstetrics, nurses, doctor's assistants, ambulance personnel and other experts. The training centres provide education at an advanced level. They offer the widest healthcare programs of MKI by means of lectures and workshops in the form of PME programs (Permanent Medical Education).

Each workshop is set up and written by medical experts, such as gynaecologists and other specialists in a specific area in Europe and the US.

MKI Information Centres

MKI Information Centres (Health Information Centres, HICs) provide training and information in the field of healthcare to the general public from all walks of life.

A number of centres have already been realized in various townships in South Africa They enable the local population to take care of their own health and that of their family and their community. An information centre provides a collection of training courses for different life skills, such as daily personal hygiene. The training in these centres is largely provided by local people, trained by MKI, and performed in local languages, taking into account the everyday, cultural beliefs of the population. In this way not only an environment is created that is conducive to the awareness in the short term, but also to the understanding and application of healthcare in the long term.

MKI Youth Centres

MKI Youth Centres (Health Information Satellites, HISs) are ‘mini HICs’, where local community organizations get training and information in the field of basic healthcare. The programs are specially developed to provide for the needs of orphans, young children and adolescents. These youth centres are equipped to give training at a small intimate scale and to influence and form in that manner the lives of the children entrusted to their care. All this holds out prospects for a better and healthier future for the youth.

The MKI Youth Centres - in the meantime already more than 30 - cooperate with Clover Mama Africa and are established throughout South Africa.

Cooperation with Clover Mama Africa

This organization trains special skills of the Mamas such as cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, business procedures, collecting food and baking bread.

But Clover realized that it was just as important to enlarge their awareness concerning feminine hygiene and health issues. Clover Mama is therefore very proud to be able to cooperate with MKI to provide healthcare education to their Mamas and their children. This cooperation has become possible by means of the valuable support of FlexiFleet.
