Cooperation South African Longridge Winery, importer Intense Wines and Medical Knowledge Institute:Renowned Longridge wines 'sponsor' MKI activities in South Africa
Stellenbosch (ZA) / Oostvoorne (NL), September 8, 2010 - - The renowned South African winery Longridge and the Dutch wine importer Intense Wines (Almelo, NL) have decided to support the Medical Knowledge Institute (MKI). Per bottle sold a donation is made to the MKI - "Prevention through Education". Since 1994 the Longridge Winery is in the possession of the Van der Laan family and for Aldo van der Laan, the option of sponsoring the MKI is a logical step: "The work that the MKI is doing in South Africa - and I was there to see this with my own eyes - has real impact on people and environment. Therefore, we share a common vision."
"At Long Ridge and Intense Wines 'People and Planet' stand of paramount importance. We work from the belief that dealing well with nature and caring for the people involved will enable them to develop. This also reflects in the quality of the wines", says Van der Laan.
"When we concluded this agreement, sommelier Martin Verkerk - recently voted best sommelier in the Netherlands - Sandton Hotels * was present", said Janneke Rutten, Director of Intense Wines. "He has specifically composed a wonderful Sandton wine from the Longridge collection for their restaurants. Proof that Longridge offers quality wines!"
Dr. Harold Robles, founder and president of the MKI is very enthusiastic about this sponsorship. "The famous winery Longridge is geographically located closely to the areas we are working in South Africa. They make their vision reality being in the forefront of how to deal with people and nature. They even look a little further ahead and decide – next to their products - to invest outside their vicinity and expertise. It is very special that from now the people who work in the vineyards of Long Ridge will be trained and supervised by the MKI. But thanks to this joining of forces of Longridge, Intense Wines and MKI", says Robles, "also other people in South Africa will get a chance of a higher quality of life and a better future."
